Wine Advocate rates this wine a respectable 93 points, considering it “the best Coudoulet ever tasted”.

Château Beaucastel is one of the most respected wineries in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a wine region within Rhone Valley that enjoys a stellar standing with the likes of Bordeaux and Burgundy. It is also one of the oldest estates in the appellation, dating all the way back to 1549. In producing Coudoulet de Beaucastel, the winery never held back and used their 80-year-old vines just outside the Châteauneuf boundary.
The 2016 vintage was legendary in Châteauneuf-du-Pape as grapes in the region had reached good maturity, produced fresh reds with plenty of depth and finesse. Robert Parker awarded the 2016 vintage a whooping 98 points for producing consistent wines displaying perfect complexity, elegant freshness and purity of fruit.
