Riesling is a light-skinned, aromatic grape which many consider to be one of the world's finest white wine grape varietals. Originally more prevalent in German-speaking, Old World regions like Germany, Austria and Alsace, high-quality Riesling wines are today also produced in New World countries like the United States, Australia and New Zealand.
Mount Edward Estate Riesling 2018 hails from Central Otago, New Zealand’s southernmost wine region, marked by excellent micro-climate conditions brought about by its mountainous terrain. The producer Mount Edward prides itself in producing organically certified wines from single vineyards. On the palate, this wine is crisp and refreshing: it has a good balance of sweetness and acidity, with aromatic notes of fresh apples and lime.
Leading wine critic James Suckling scores it a respectable 93 points.
