Brunello di Montalcino is an Italian red wine made exclusively from the Sangiovese grape varietal produced in Montalcino, a hilltop village south of Siena in the Tuscany region. One of the first wines to be designated DOCG, the top tier of the country’s wine classification, Brunello di Montalcino is regarded by many wine critics around the world as one of the best of Italy.
Located in the Castelnuovo dell’Abate area in Montalcino, La Poderina boasts the famous estates of Mastrojanni, Poggio di Sotto and Ucceliera within the same vicinity and adopts a similar level of excellence in their winemaking.
La Poderina Brunello di Montalcino 2013 is full-bodied and well-balanced on the palate, its bouquet characterised by dark cherry fruit, blackberry, spice and licorice. Robert Parker Wine Advocate rates it a strong 94-pointer.
